Heather Kotler is a psychotherapist in private practice in downtown Decatur. She has a Master’s degree from the University of Georgia in Social Work, along with a certificate in Marriage and Family Therapy. Prior to becoming a psychotherapist, Heather got a Master’s degree in Public Health from Emory University and worked as a health educator. Heather specializes in working with people in recovery from addiction, as well as trauma, anxiety and depression.
Michelle Nelson, LCSW, BCD is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in multiple states including Georgia, North Carolina, Texas, and Kentucky. She offers group and individual therapy in her private practice, Mountain Mindfulness Therapy, with offices located in Decatur & Blue Ridge, GA. Michelle currently facilitates Grief & Loss groups in Georgia and North Carolina. Following completion of a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Georgia in 2005, Michelle worked with families receiving Hospice care followed by 12 years as a Clinical Social Worker at the Atlanta VA Medical Center. While at the Atlanta VA Michelle worked with veterans and their families in a variety of settings including: Oncology, Primary Care and Women’s Wellness. She has completed Animal-Related Grief and Bereavement coursework through the University of Tennessee. Michelle has also volunteered for many years as a children’s camp counselor at Camp Magik, a grief camp for children. Michelle loves animals; she and her partner currently have 3 rescued dogs: Tulip, Lotus & Yuli.
